Subject: Corrected - Update on Washington Long Term Care Tax

Hello,
As you may have recently heard, Governor Inslee had put a temporary pause on the new Long Term Care tax last week. An updated statement was released on December 23rd recommending employers begin withholding this tax from employees’ payroll checks beginning 1/1/2022. Based on this guidance we are activating the tax on all Washington employees, any prior exemptions placed in the system will remain. If you decide to not withhold the tax, please email us at mypayroll@paynorthwest.com and we can deactivate this tax for you. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to let us know. Please be aware that according to Gov. Inslee’s statement, any employers who choose to not withhold the tax from their employees will be legally obligated to pay the full amount due themselves. Below is a link to the most recent statement.

We are working to ensure the latest information is available to you as new statements are released.
