FAQ -- Use Age As Of

This will explain the use of the Use Age As Of functionality when building age based benefit plans

1/1: By selecting 1/1, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of 1/1 of the current year. You can pair this with the Freeze Age As Of Year field to have it look at 1/1 of another year.

12/31 (Last Year): By selecting 12/31 (Last Year), the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of 12/31 of the previous year.

12/31 (This Year): By selecting 12/31 (This Year), the system will look at what the age of the employee/spouse/dependent will be as of 12/31 of the current year.

Pay Date: By selecting Pay Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the date of the pay check in which the deduction will be taken.

Custom Date (This Year): By selecting Custom Date (This Year), the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of that month and day being specified of the current year.

Custom Date (Last Year): By selecting Custom Date (Last Year), the system will look at the what age of the employee/spouse/dependent was as of that month and day being specified of the previous year.

Custom Date (Next Year): By selecting Custom Date (Next Year), the system will look at what the age of the employee/spouse/dependent will be as of that month and day being specified of the next year.

Custom (Rolling Year Begin): By selecting Custom (Rolling Year Begin), the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the specified date as of the specified date each year and will reset once that date passes in the current year.

Employee Benefit Start Date: By selecting Employee Benefit Start Date the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the date put in the enrollment effective date field when you add the plan to the employee record.

Company Benefit Plan Start Date: By selecting Company Benefit Plan Start Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the date the plan became effective in the plan set up screen.

Date Hired: By selecting the Date Hired, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the hire date field on the employee’s profile.

Date Started: By selecting the Date Hired, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the started date field on the employee’s profile.

Birthday: By selecting the Birthday the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the birth date on the employee’s profile. This option needs to be pared with the Freeze Age As Of field in order for it to calculate the age as anything other than 0.

Seniority Date: By selecting the Seniority Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the seniority date field on the employee’s profile.

Date Re-Hired: By selecting the Date Re-Hired, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the rehired date field on the employee’s profile.

Review Date: By selecting the Review Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the review date field on the employee’s profile.

Benefits Date: By selecting the Benefits Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the benefits date field on the employee’s profile.

Frozen Benefit Date: By selecting the Frozen Benefit Date, the system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the frozen benefit date field on the employee’s profile.

Any Custom Field: If you have any account extra date fields set up in company settings, these will appear as options under the Use Age At field. They system will look at the age of the employee/spouse/dependent as of the date populated in this custom field on the employee’s profile.

 

Note: As a reference, the Use Age As Of field should be thought of as setting the day and month. Couple that with the Freeze Age As Of Year field to control what year the system is to look at in order to calculate the age.
