How To - Add Succession Planning Profiles and Default Metrics

Purpose Statement 

 

This guide will teach the user how to add succession planning profiles.  


Create a New Succession Planning Profile

Under Company Settings>HR Setup>Succession Planning>Succession Profiles

  1. Click on Add New Profile
  2. In the next screen, give the profile a name
  3. It will automatically check off the ‘Active’ and ‘Use Perspectives Score’ box; if you are not using Perspectives, uncheck this box.
  4. Description is used internally and is informational only.
  5. Successor – this is current Job and/or Skill another individual would need to possess to be eligible to succeed into this role.
  6. Succession Path – this is the job and/or skill the Successor succeeds into.
    1. Example: A succession profile called Line Manager has a Successor of Line Worker, meaning you must have a Line Worker job title presently to be eligible to become a Line Manager. The Succession Path is Line Manager, as a Line Manager is the next step up from a Line Worker.
  7. Click Save
  8. Once Saved, the system will automatically add any default metrics configured. You can delete any that are not applicable to the specific profile you’re building.  
  9. Save any final changes. The profile is ready to be assigned to employees.

How to - Add Succession Planning Default Metrics (KB0015240)

Purpose Statement

This guide will teach the user how to add addition succession planning metrics.  


Create a New Succession Planning Metric

Under Company Settings>HR Setup>Succession Planning>Default Metrics Configuration

  1. Click on Add New Metric
  2. In the next screen, Check the Enabled box.
  3. If the metric should be required for each person it’s applied to, check the Required box.
  4. Label should be the name of the metric
  5. Description is used internally and is informational only.
  6. Sort order determines what order your metrics will appear in.
  7. Click Save
  8. Once Saved, you may create the List Items that pair with this metric. All metrics MUST have a list, there is no other way to build them.
  9. Arrange your list in the manner desired, and save your changes.

Add a New Metric to an Existing Profile

Under Company Settings>HR Setup>Succession Planning>Succession Profiles

  1. From this screen, you can Mass Add a new metric to any previously created succession profiles
    1. Check the boxes next to the profiles you want the metric added to
    2. Click on the Mass Add New Metric button
    3. Choose the metric(s) you want to add by choosing from the metric dropdown. If you have more than 1 new metric to add, click the plus sign next to Metric 1
    4. Save Changes when complete.
  2. Alternatively, you can add to just one succession profile using the process outlined in point #1, or you can click on the pencil next to a succession profile and click “Add New Field” in the metrics configuration widget to choose your new metric.
  3. Save all changes when complete.
