How to Create a Pop Up for Clients (Partner Admin Only)

  • The Pop Up Communicator is restricted to certain security profiles at the company admin level and is used for deploying a popup message across a group of clients.

     Navigate to: Distribution>Tools>Pop Up Communicator

Click Add New or Clone an existing pop up, preferably one that is no longer active if cloning.

Main Tab:

1) Enter a headline

2) Configure the messaging, using appropriate fonts, sizes, colors, and links.  For links be sure to use the 'Open in a new tab setting".

3) Set the Active From and To Dates.  This can allow you to future schedule a popup to activate, too.  Hold off on checking the active box, while working through the set up of the 3 tabs of the popup.  When ready to go live, check the Active box.

4) Verify the if you'd like to show the author name or not.

5) Verify the type is set to Customers.

Companies

1) Choose the target companies who should receive the popup.  For popups that should go to all clients, choose TLM, Payroll, HR, and Admin Interface.

2) Choose a filter if applicable, by default it will go to all companies.

Filter Examples: Use an In filter for specific companies to assign the popup to a list of clients.  Use a company custom field to filter by an Extra Field value.  Use a single company, like a demo company to test a popup before turning it on for everyone.

Roles:

Roles define who at the company will see the popup.  The most common is to use the Standard Roles option.  This aligns with roles set within a user security profile.

The second option instead of standard is to Target by Security Items.  This works well for example if you want to target only administrators who have access to Tax Documents for a tax pop up.  This works by qualifying who gets the popup based off of one or more security settings that they have access to in their security profile.

A few notes of caution:

1) Proof read and edit before activating.  Double check things like spelling, grammar, dates, days of the week, etc.

2) If you aren't sure how something is going to turn out, activate only for a demo company to see it first.  (You'll need to login as a user to see it)

3) Don't forget to let other's know that a popup was enabled, so they are looped into communications being sent to clients in case they get questions.
