Storylane Overview and Guidelines

Storylane is a self-guided demo platform that helps teams bring our software to life through interactive walkthroughs. Instead of relying on live sessions or static videos, teams can build clickable demos that mirror real product experiences—giving users a hands-on way to explore features, workflows, and processes at their own pace.

Whether used for marketing, sales, or internal training, Storylane makes it easier to scale product knowledge and engage different audiences. Teams can embed demos in websites, campaigns, or onboarding materials, creating consistent experiences that reduce the need for one-on-one sessions; while boosting clarity and retention across the board.

Storylane Training Video Guidelines

Think of every Storylane training as having three simple jobs:

  1. Set the stage
  2. Teach clearly and confidently
  3. Close with purpose and support

If those three are done well, the video feels helpful, professional, and respectful of the viewer’s time.

Quick Storylane Training Flow Checklist

  • Does the opening clearly explain why this matters?
  • Is the outcome of the training clear?
  • Does the viewer understand the flow before the walkthrough begins?
  • Does the phrasing sound like a partner, not a teacher?
  • Is the walkthrough clear without being condescending or overly detailed?
  • Is there a reinforcement statement tying the task back to its value?
  • Does the closing clearly invite them to reach out to PayNW for support?

Opening: Set the context
Answer the unspoken “Why am I here?” in the first 10–15 seconds.

  1. Name what this training is about.
  2. Who it is for.
  3. Why it matters to their day-to-day work.

Tone should be confident, helpful, and practical. It should feel like a partner showing a teammate something useful, not a classroom lesson.

Example structure:
“In this walkthrough, we’ll show you how to [specific task]. This is helpful when you need to [real-world reason]. By the end, you’ll have a clear outline of how to complete this process.”

Orientation: What they’re about to see
Help first-time users feel grounded without sounding basic.

  1. Briefly explain how the training will flow.
  2. Let them know what parts you’ll cover.
  3. Set expectations for the scope.

Example:
“We’ll start by showing you where to find this in the system, then walk through the steps, and finish by reviewing what a completed setup looks like.”

Teaching: Walk through the process
This is the core of the video.

  1. Speak as if you’re helping a capable professional.
  2. Use “we” language when it feels natural.
  3. Explain why when it adds clarity.
  4. Avoid over-explaining or filler.

Flow:

  • Show where you are in the system.
  • Explain what you’re clicking and why.
  • Call out areas people commonly pause or double-check.
  • Keep the walkthrough moving forward with purpose.

Tone should always feel helpful, assured, and respectful.

Reinforcement: Tie it together
This is where you connect the walkthrough back to its value.

  1. Restate what was covered in a grounded, professional way.
  2. Connect it to how it supports their workflow.

Example:
“This has been an outline of how to complete [task], which makes it easier to [benefit or outcome].”

Closing: Support and next steps
Confirm what the training covered.

  1. Reinforce that PayNW is a partner, not just a platform.
  2. Provide clear direction for support.

Example:
“If you have any questions or want help applying this to your setup, our team is here to support you. You can reach us at support@paynw.com, and we’re always happy to walk through it with you.”

Avoid phrases like “hope this helps.” The close should feel open, supportive, and confident.

TIPS:

  • Use a title slide (ppt/canva)
  • The box on the screen can be simplified with the voiceover sharing more detail.

Voiceover TIPS:

  • Regenerating can produce a better outcome
  • Can spell words phonetically like Pay N W differently to drive clarity in the voiceover
    • PayNW = Pay N W
    • .com = dot com
  • If sentences sound cut off, you can add more periods to enhance the pause.
