WA FLI Tax Set up

How to Set up WA FLI

Washington Paid Family and Medical Leave is funded through premiums paid by both employees and employers. The premium rate is 0.74 percent of each employee's gross wages, not including tips, up to the 2024 Social Security cap ($168,600). Of this, employers with 50+ employees will pay up to 28.57% and employees will pay 71.43%. If the employer is under 50 employees, the ER rate does not apply, however the ER may choose to pay all or part of the employee’s portion.

UKG Ready will now be able to distinguish between a large (50+ employees) and a small employer (under 50 employees) with a new dropdown,

Along with the dropdown, UKG Ready is introducing auto correct at the WA FLI tax level. Auto correct on will be the default. WA FLI auto correct will no longer need to be set on the general tab of the employee tax information widget.

With this new functionality, small employers will no longer need to block or exempt the ER withhold.

Please note all new clients will default to Large ER Type. It is up to the representative adding the tax code to verify with the client if they are a large or small employer.
